Since 2015, we have worked to heal our surrounding land and water, and to produce healthy and vibrant food for ourselves and our community.

OUR MISSION

We want to create a future that we are proud to have our kids born into. To reduce our ecological footprint, that is our impact on this world, to nothing. In fact we want to strive to do better than nothing and leaves this place better off when we are gone. A goal most parents strive for, I think.

OUR STORY

Eddie and I have always had something for each other. During high school we had a short fling, but we each went our separate ways after graduation. Three years later, we crossed paths. He invited me to foal-watch one night and the rest was history. Eddie grew up on a horse farm, which is where his love for animals stems from. The love is mutual as most animals take to him almost immediately. I also grew up on a farm, but it's only job was to produce either corn or soybean every year. It did allow me the freedom to explore the outdoors however, and I grew to love nature.

After receiving an associates in science, I was on my way to attend Berkeley California to study environmental science. While in California, I became an intern on a sustainable farm prior to school. It felt extremely satisfying to be actively making the world a better place. Throughout school, the daunting problems facing humanity had burned a conscious hole in my mind. Overpopulation, Climate Change, Loss of Biodiversity, Pollution, Water Shortages, Deforestation are just a few of a long list. And this doesn't even touch the topic of the deteriorating health of our society as a whole. At the center of it all was our agricultural system. A system that is completely unsustainable. After my internship I decided that the money I had saved for school might be put to better use creating a sustainable farm addressing these major buzz kills to the future.

With Eddie's enthusiasm of the idea we decided to focus our career paths on Eco-friendly farming. We spent the rest of 2014 working on multiple farms and ranches in Canada. We fell in love with farming and the idea of producing our own food, as well as food for our community. After returning to our home in Belleville we purchased a plot of land from my grandparents. The land we purchased has been home to our family for six generations. Throughout life I had developed a connection to the land and explored every nook and cranny. We are working to restore this conventional barren plot of land to a healthy and abundant ecosystem. We want our farm flourishing with a diversified mix of plants and animals. Through rotational grazing we are nourishing the soil, the animals, and consequently us.

Nothing is considered an enemy at Hidden Forest Farms. Even "pests and weeds" have their place in an ecosystem. Usually these organisms point to a weakness. We believe these creatures are clues as to how we can make our farm healthier, and therefore our food healthier. Because we know about this delicate and complicated relationships in the soil, we will never spray our food with pesticides or fertilizers. Our animals will give the farm all the nutrients the plants need naturally. We also promise to never inject our animals with vaccines or other harmful poisons. Our animals immune systems will be strong enough to fight off any bacteria or illness because of humane living conditions and nutritious food.

We strive to create food that not only taste good, but feels good and nourishes the soul. We encourage everyone to buy local, and to be aware of how you're food is being produced or raised. By doing this you are creating a future free of pollution, helping to curb climate change, supporting the local community, guaranteeing a healthy quality of life to the animals you're eating, and giving your family and yourself the nutrition you deserve. Consumers have more power than any billionaire in the world, they just have to start exercising it.
